Sector

Safer, better-connected schools and community facilities

Arcvia helps schools and community facilities manage traffic, parking and safety — with a particular focus on the safety of children and pedestrians.

Sector context

Schools and community facilities concentrate people, parking pressure and vulnerable road users — children, families, older people — often at sharp peaks and in constrained locations. Drop-off and pick-up congestion, parking overspill, and pedestrian safety are recurring concerns for the facility, the council and the community. These sites need advice that takes safety seriously and is practical about how the place actually operates.

How we help

We assess and improve traffic, parking and safety around education and community sites: traffic impact assessments for new or expanding facilities, parking demand and management, access and swept-path design, active transport and safe pedestrian access, road safety audits, and support for safety-funding submissions. We keep the safety of children and pedestrians at the centre, and we communicate clearly with non-technical stakeholders.

Relevant services

Traffic Impact Assessments (TIA)

A traffic impact assessment is an engineering report that shows how a proposed development will affect the surrounding road network — and what, if anything, is needed to make it work safely.

Car-Parking Demand Assessments

A car-parking demand assessment works out how much parking your development actually needs — and provides the evidence to support a rate different from the standard planning requirement.

Car Park Management Plans

A car park management plan sets out how a development's parking will be allocated, controlled and operated — so it works day-to-day and satisfies the council.

Active Transport Assessments

An active transport assessment shows how a development supports walking, cycling and access to public transport — increasingly expected in planning applications.

Access Design and Assessments

Access design and assessment confirms that vehicles can safely enter and leave your site — and designs the crossover, driveway or intersection treatment to make it work.

Road Safety Audits (RSA)

A road safety audit is an independent, systematic check of a road or project by qualified auditors to identify safety issues before they cause crashes.

Black Spot and Funding Assistance

We help councils and organisations identify eligible locations and prepare the road safety evidence and submissions that funding programs — including the Australian Government Black Spot Program — require.

Working with education and community

We understand these projects involve stakeholders who aren't engineers — school leadership, parent communities, council officers — so we explain findings plainly and focus on practical, safety-first outcomes. We're honest about what will and won't fix a drop-off problem, and we frame advice around genuine safety and amenity rather than easy reassurance.
